Beauty School Dropout's ‘We Made Plans & God Laughed’ Is a Culmination of a Lifelong Love For Rock

If there’s one law I believe in, it’s Murphy’s law — the notion that “anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.” It’s a sentiment that builds the emotional crux of Beauty School Dropout’s debut album We Made Plans & God Laughed, which sees the Los Angeles-based trio move beyond failures, hardships, and divine misfortune to deliver a rapturous collection of forward-thinking rock anthems.

Comprised of Colie Hutzler, Brent Burdett, and Bardo, it’s little surprise that We Made Plans & God Laughed arrives as a spirited tour de force given its impressive musical pedigree. As the first act signed to Pete Wentz and Sherry Saeedi’s newly formed label Verswire and featuring A&R spearheaded by none other Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus, the fingerprints of multiple generations of rock are all over the trio’s debut. And speaking on Hoppus, “Almost Famous” sees the Blink-182 frontman lending his talents to craft an emphatic look at the pain and euphoria of chasing the dream.

"I’m so stoked for the new Beauty School Dropouts release. We wrote it with Andrew Goldstein, and its story looks at two sides of the ‘living the dream’ coin. As their label A&R I’m always impressed by how hard these guys work, their talent and uncompromising creativity, and their dedication to their fans. As a fan myself, I’m honored to be on the track, and can’t wait for everyone else to hear it,” shares Hoppus.

Taken altogether, We Made Plans & God Laughed is a seven-track introduction to one of rock’s most promising up-and-comers. Whether it’s in the previously-released “A$$A$$IN” or the electrifying album opener “SEE YOU IN HELL,” Beauty School Dropout cement their place in a forthcoming generation of anthemic, guitar-led, high-energy rock.

In Beauty School Dropout’s own words, “We Made Plans & God Laughed is an ode to our hardships that we’ve faced as a band. It covers everything from our failed relationships and fleeting mental health to figuring out how to be a band in a world shut down. Sometimes it really feels like all the odds have been against us, but we have persisted through it all to make something great and we can let that stand as the greater analogy for what this project is. It’s a kick in the ass to keep persisting, keep getting better and keep growing as people.”
