Selfish Sons Are Capturing the Essence of Nostalgia with Their Captivating Authenticity
âWeâre about making music, having fun at shows, and loving each otherâ.
Noisy, undeniable and straddling a line between something new and early 2000âs nostalgia, Australian 3 piece pop-rock outfit Selfish Sons have exploded onto the 2023 scene in a huge way.
Sharing an intense passion for their craft, Brothers Finn, Jordy and Jonty have developed a dedicated following, accumulating over a million streams across their platforms. Despite their accolades however, they continue to remain humble and infectiously charming, never letting go of their unrelenting drive and teen spirit.
Siblings by blood and bond, their name is a recognition of those antics. âOur mum was having an argument with us one time and she basically called us a bunch of âSelfish Sonsâ because Finn and I are brothers, while Jonty is basically our brother at this point. Yeah, so thanks to mum â shout out to her, she basically gave us our nameâ. Free-spirited as their music, the three are collectively pushing their endeavours into each day, fuelled by the love of no rules or limitations.
If youâre into strong melodies and introspective catchy hooks, Selfish Sons are right up your alley. Featuring a mix of acoustic and electric instrumentation, with a focus on guitar-driven arrangements led by both Jordy and Jony and driving drumbeats by Finn, each track will get your heart pumping and body swaying. Jordyâs raw and emotive vocals add a powerful and personal touch to their music, making for a truly authentic and moving listening experience.
At first listen you canât help but distinguish traits of class pop-rock bands, those of the likes of 5 Seconds of Summer, Green Day and Paramore. Head-bopping and showstopping, their charisma on stage cleverly combines the energy of each track. Their track Hear Me Out gives the sense of youthful rebellion, telling listeners to care less and have more fun.â
Their single âHear Me Outâ is a song that we chose to not care about too much, but in the best way possible. We chose to focus on having fun and portraying a good energy of going out with your friends on a sick night outâ.
With their newest single âGet Me Downâ out now, Selfish Sons are keeping their momentum into the new year with stellar music and even better ventures.
