Wayside's Return Was Worth The Wait With Massive Double-Single Release

Nearly two and a half years after their impressive debut album Shine On To Me, Wayside, comprised of vocalist Thomas Davenport and guitarist Josh Ehmer, makes a massive statement with their new double-single "Parallax Error" and "Asymmetry." The duel release is a mesmerizing mix of ethereal, soft shoegaze, and intense post-hardcore. Recorded with acclaimed producer Will Yip (Turnstile, Title Fight, Balance & Composure) and driven by the pair's natural ability to weave in between attitudes, the tracks are standout moments in their own right.

The first single, "Parallax Error," captures the feeling of constantly chasing someone but never getting close enough to hold on for long and eventually giving into the game of it all. Davenport's addictive vocals paint this pining with achingly painful lines like, "Never a surprise/ History repеats itself now/ When the hand hits thе twelve/ Rest me safely on the shelf," as dark and dynamic sonics collide.

"Asymmetry" closes out the release on an intense and somber note, unpacking the lingering effects of the aforementioned cycle. Davenport admits that he still feels the presence of the person he was chasing, falling for them and again and declaring that he's "ready to lose everything/ Ready to be anything you need."

"We were asked what our #1 goal as artists were, to which we both replied…to work with Will Yip," vocalist/guitarist Thomas Davenport says. "From the very beginning, songwriting was always our number one focus, so to be given the opportunity to work with Will was quite literally a dream come true. We both followed his career and had tremendous respect for him as a producer, but more importantly, as a songwriter."

Wayside are poised to make their long-awaited return with their second full-length release in 2023. The new tracks come ahead of Wayside's upcoming national run in support of hometown heroes Dream On Dreamer next month.
