While it's far too easy to lose ourselves in the deluge of new music releases that grace us every week, one thing that cannot and should not be overlooked is the art of the music video. With the heyday era of MTV long behind us, Rewind sees us taking a look back at a handful of our favorite music videos of the past week.  

A STARR - "No Filter"

If you need an updated "its Britney, bitch" video moment that replaces the cheeky school girl sexuality of the original with the #girlboss vibes of today, then A STARR's "No Filter" is for you. The debut banger is a reference-laden journey that takes the mellow nostalgia of the clueless aughts and pushes boundaries to conflate into a verbal and visual fuck you. It's a clear statement from an artist we'll be watching a lot more closely from here on out.

Blxst - "Never Was I Wrong"

Nothing is subtle or subdued about Blxst's talent, but for this simmering slow jam, a reductionist approach was required. While the friends in the club moment is everything, the love interest literally stealing the spotlight is a perfect visual for Blxst at his best. Sadly, there is a throwback epilogue narrative that sequences the song into another moment, meaning we'll have to wait for that to resolve.  

joe p feat. GAYLE - "Off My Mind Live"

Ok, ok, we've featured  "Off My Mind" before, but maybe it's because as concert hounds we love the idea of seemingly impromptu sessions sprung outside the backstage dressing room with two artists we love. Not much left to describe from this video, other than it captures a genuinely lovely duet, stripped back to let the natural talent of joe p and GAYLE echo down the hallway.

Sports Team - "The Game"

If you ever needed a dose of rabbid and surreal game shows, replete with oddly terrifying life as a game metaphors, then this edgy effort by Sports Team is here to fulfill your craving. The group's punchy, irreverent sound has always come with great visuals, and with the addition of  "The Game," Sports Team has gone for the gold.

IDK prod. KAYTRANADA - "Breathe"

 It’s hard to not be mesmerized by the deft vocals and lyrics of IDK. He's been a staple of what to do and how to do it for several cycles now, but wow did director Remi Besse knock the video accompaniment to “Breathe," taken from the artist's latest project, Simple., right out of the park. If you want your daydreams of your daily delivery service put into a gorgeous cinematic effort, with breathtaking views of Paris as a backdrop, this is a must-see.
